What I remember from 1975
by Big Dog insince i am sort of late to the party this has probably been beaten to death and if it has just kick this thread to the curb.
i was 11 years old in 1975 and i remember being scared silly the whole year.
i mean there was so much hype about it and the tension in the air was so thick it was unreal.

Alanf, thanks for the great posts!!!! The folks trying to defend the Borg definitely have an uphill battle. Its just so painfully obvious what went on, I mean, are they even reading some of the quotes from the publications they are using? And it just sucks that the new recruits to the Borg have no idea about what really went on, just like when I was growing up I had no idea about 1875, 1925, and the goofball house the society had out in San Diego for Moses and Abraham. And it just makes me sick how the defenders totally marginalize the negative impact that 1975 had on so many lives.

loveis, sounds like typical slippery WBTS doublespeak to me. As an officer of the court you are an agent of Ceasar, an enforcer so to speak. I just don't see how a JW can be an agent of Ceasar and Cearsar's system yet claim that he is neutral in this system's affairs and no part of the world. I could see a JW taking an oath on the stand to tell the truth, but to uphold the laws of Ceasar, that just sounds a little too fraught with neutrality issues.

Is a Major Rift Developing between the GB and It's Bethel Lawyers??
by frankiespeakin ini would think sooner or later it is inevitable with all the stupid shit the governing body pulled over the last couple of years.
i can only imagine the angst many intelligent lawyers at bethel feel toward this braindead governing body of idiots.

Frank, First let me apologize, just read my last post and the spelling and typos were terrible.
Sorry, no I don't have any juicy tales of lawyers ratting out their clients.

Frank, lawyers that breach attorney-client privelege can be disbarred. As to how one would accomplish what you propose I don't know, that would be a question for a legal eithics professor or a lawyer that works on the diciplinary board for the state supreme court which governs the condut of attornies.

Frank,
A lawyer cannot disclose that past illegal activities of his client, they can disclose if their client reveals the intent to commit future illegal acts.

To be honest, I don't see how there could be such a thing as a JW Attorney, in Ohio they have to take the following oath:
" I, ____________________, hereby (swear or affirm) that I will support the Constitution and the laws of the United States and the Constitution and the laws of Ohio, and I will abide by the Code of Professional Responsibility.
In my capacity as an attorney and officer of the Court, I will conduct myself with dignity and civility and show respect toward judges, court staff, clients, fellow professionals, and all other persons. "
Between swearing to uphold the Constitution and being an "Officer" of the court, as JW's who are not part of the world, won't salute the flag, etc. I just don't see how they could continue to practice and be a JW.

A lawyer will really stretch his thinking in favor of his client, along the lines of isn't it possible, even though they know it is about as likely that statement is true as saying monkeys flew out of their butt. But at a certain point client stupidity or culpability makes a valid and/or viable defense impossible and the attorney shifts gears to damage control. Or if the client is completely deranged they ask the judge to allow them to withdraw as counsel. No lawyer worth his salt wants to be given an asskicking in open court.
The Catholic church has taken in the shorts for their stupidity and culpability for putting the image of the church before taking care of their parishoners. The WBTS is next on the hot seat me thinks and their counsel is not happy with their client.

Blondie, first let me officially say hello, I have read many of your posts and you have a well deserved reputation for your excellent posts.
Everytime I read that drivel I just can't believe they are still writing that nonsense, words just fail me as to how to describe my reactions when I read it. I mean that stuff just gives me a gut level sense of revulsion. I think I am going to go have a nice vomit, and think some very unkind thoughts about the authors of that article.

This post made me think of the following song:
Written By Warren Zevon
c. 1978 Zevon Music/BMI
I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the
Russians, too?
I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this hyeah
I'm the innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock
and a hard place
And I'm down on my luck
Yes I'm down on my luck
Well I'm down on my luck
I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The shit has hit the fan
All right
Send lawyers, guns and money
Huh!
Uh...
Send lawyers, guns and money
Uhh!
Send lawyers, guns and money
Hyah!
Send lawyers, guns and money
Ooh!
Yeah!
Yeah
Yeah...
Uh!
